It is quite common to find problems in which a number is missing from a calculation.  You can use the Multiplication Triangle to solve multiplication or division problems which have a missing number.  This method uses the knowledge of number fact families.

Addition and subtraction problems with missing numbers can be solved thinking about the problem in a pictorial way using bar modelling.
